What was your the best (and worst) alternate history read of the year 2007?
Note that there is a separate topic for each of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. -Tom Hl. |

Not really 'alternate' but my favorite historical novels read this year were:
Best: Ironfire - David Ball The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon Worst: hmm... nothing that atrocious, really! |

I don't really have a best and worst in this category this year. But I did read the 4-volume What Might Have Been collection, by Gregory Benford and Martin Greenberg. The stories were commissioned for this series, not just collected from other sources, in four themes - Alternate Empires, Alternate Heroes, Alternate Wars, and Alternate Americas. The stories are actually better than these unfortunate titles might lead you to expect.

I just got Alternate Americans in the mail yesterday. I have one other and looking for the other two. I was hoping they would be good. -------------------- **Man who run in front of car get tired... Man who run behind car get exhausted**
